From address to inbox

A short path that separates your real identity from temporary tasks

A temporary email is ideal when you only need one confirmation, a download link, or a short-lived conversation. You don’t have to give every site your everyday email or search across multiple pages for newly arrived messages.

01

Copy your private address

A ready-to-use address is generated when you open the page. Copy it into a signup, trial, or download form, while keeping your everyday email for your regular accounts.

02

Stay on the page and wait

The inbox refreshes automatically, and you can also check for new mail manually. The sender, subject, and arrival time appear in the list first, helping you avoid opening unfamiliar content by mistake.

03

Read it, then move on

View verification codes or confirmation links directly in the reading pane. When the task is done, stop using the address to keep future marketing emails out of your main inbox.

Expose one fewer long-term identifier and leave one fewer trail to be linked over time

Email addresses are often used as cross-site identifiers. A temporary address cannot replace account security measures, but for low-risk, short-term tasks it can reduce the chance of your primary address being collected, profiled, and targeted with repeat marketing.

Separate public access from private mail

Forums, public resources, and one-time downloads usually don’t need your long-term contact details. Use a separate address for necessary messages, so your main inbox stays focused on relationships that truly continue.

Cut off the long tail of spam

One signup can trigger months of marketing. When a temporary inbox expires, it stops receiving mail, so unwanted promotions can no longer occupy your main inbox or attention.

Read everything on this page

Your address, message list, and reading pane are all in one workspace. Check the sender and subject as soon as a verification code arrives—no extra mail app required.

Choose the right use case

Not every signup deserves your everyday email

Consider how long the relationship will last, whether you may need account recovery, and whether you’ll receive bills or attachments. Use a temporary email for short-term tasks; keep a stable, recoverable address for important accounts.

Use case A

Verification codes and quick confirmations

When you only need to verify an email, claim content, or view a service demo once, a short-lived address handles the essential task: receiving that one message. Always check the domain, sender, and link destination.

Use case B

Trials and feature evaluation

When evaluating a new tool, route marketing traffic to a temporary inbox first. If you decide to keep using it, move the account to a stable address and enable multi-factor authentication.

Use case C

Public communities and downloads

A temporary address works well for public entry points that don’t involve payments, identity credentials, or long-term recovery. Don’t use an expiring email for critical services such as banking, healthcare, work, or subscription billing.

Know the limits before you use it

A temporary inbox provides separation—it doesn’t decide whether a message is trustworthy

BoxTmp reduces exposure of your everyday address, but it cannot make dangerous links safe or serve as a recovery email for important accounts. For payments, identity documents, or long-term services, use a stable account you control.

Good for: low-risk, short-term, disposable tasks

Verification codes, one-time downloads, public resources, short trials, and community browsing without ongoing recovery needs are usually a good fit for temporary email. Once the task is complete, there’s no extra account relationship to maintain.

Not for: assets, identity, or long-term recovery

Financial, government, healthcare, work, paid-order, and long-term recovery accounts should use a stable email address. Once a temporary address expires, continued delivery isn’t guaranteed, and it should never carry important attachments.

Temporary email or forwarding?

Choose a tool by task lifetime, not by its name

Temporary inboxes and permanent forwarding both hide your real address, but they serve different time horizons. The former ends naturally when the task is complete; the latter keeps a stable alias forwarding messages to your real inbox.

Three steps to instant email

Copy the address, read the message, and stay on this page

The workspace saves your current session and checks for new mail on a schedule. As long as the temporary email hasn’t expired, refreshing the page will try to restore the same address instead of creating a new one without warning.

1

Copy and submit the address

Click Copy and enter the address in the service that needs to email you. Before submitting, make sure it only needs short-term contact and won’t be used for future recovery or important notices.

2

Watch the inbox

The page checks every 30 seconds, and you can also refresh manually. If a message is late, wait a minute or two, then check the address spelling and whether the sender offers a resend option.

3

Check and read the message

Review the sender and subject before opening a verification code or confirmation link. Be cautious with unfamiliar attachments, urgent payment requests, and content unrelated to your current task.

Frequently asked questions

About expiration, verification codes, and delivery

Temporary email works best when the task and its limits are clear. Here are answers to the timing, refresh, and security questions users ask most often.

How long can I use a temporary email?

A new address is valid for 3 hours by default. You can extend it by 3 hours at a time, up to 24 hours from creation. Once the countdown reaches zero, don’t rely on the address for important notifications.

Why hasn’t my verification code arrived?

The sender may be queueing, rate-limiting, or blocking temporary domains. Check that the address is complete, wait a minute or two, and refresh manually. If it still doesn’t arrive, return to the sender and request another message.

Will refreshing the page change my email address?

Not without a reason. Your browser saves the current session locally and restores the same address when it hasn’t expired and the service is available. A new mailbox is created only after expiration or when you click “Get a new address.”

Can I use it to register an important account?

We don’t recommend it. Accounts that need long-term recovery, billing notifications, identity verification, or asset management should use a stable email you control continuously, with multi-factor authentication enabled.

Does temporary email mean I’m completely anonymous?

No. It mainly reduces exposure of your real email address. It cannot hide your device, network, or information you submit in other forms. Continue to follow the service’s rules and applicable laws.

Will a temporary inbox keep attachments?

Temporary email isn’t intended for long-term attachment storage. If your task depends on important files, use a stable email instead. Very large messages may also be rejected, so don’t make a temporary address your only delivery channel.

Finish short-term tasks now; leave long-term contact to a forwarding alias

Scroll back up to copy a temporary address. If you need ongoing delivery without exposing your real email, open the separate forwarding dashboard to create a long-term alias.
